Security in Logistics Starts with Challenging Old Assumptions
By Lainey Sibble, Head of Central Dispatch
Security remains one of the most critical conversations in automotive logistics today — and it’s one I’ve been deeply focused on.
Back in June, I shared a commentary in Auto Remarketing exploring common misconceptions about transport fraud and what it takes to build a more secure logistics ecosystem.
Since then, the risks have only continued to evolve — making these conversations more relevant than ever.
In the article, I tackle common assumptions, including:
- Why digital tools aren’t creating more risk and can actually strengthen security when used consistently
- What “public” marketplaces really mean and why vetted access is different from unrestricted access
- Why verifying a transportation company is no longer enough without verifying the individuals operating within it
- How everyone has a role in combatting fraud in the logistics industry
The reality is that as bad actors become more sophisticated, the industry must continue evolving its approach to security. That requires more than technology alone. It takes stronger verification, consistent use of digital tools and a shared commitment from everyone involved in the vehicle transportation journey.
